About the Authors

Deborah Collins Stephens is the cofounder and managing partner of the Center for Innovative Leadership, which consults with leaders and organizations on improving customer service, creating inspired teams, and building the link between employee motivation and customer loyalty. Ms. Stephens is the author of six books, three of which have been best-sellers: Maslow on Management, One Size Fits One, and Revisiting the Human Side of Enterprise.

Michealene Cristini Risley is an entrepreneur who has created some of the largest deals in consumer products and entertainment industries. As an executive with twenty-plus yearsı experience, Ms. Cristini Risley launched the first-ever branded maternity line in association with Adidas. As vice president of licensing and character development for Sega of America, she championed the Sega Girlsı Task Force. She has also produced, directed and funded a short film called Flashcards, which won Best Cinematography at the California Independent Film Festival, Best Short film at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival, and the film screened at the Cannes Film Festival ³Shorts Du Jour² program. The film is currently being distributed by American Public Television on PBS stations.

Jackie Speier is a state senator who was elected to the 8th Senate District in California in 1998 with more than 79 percent of the vote. The chair of the Senate Insurance Committee, she also sits on the committees of Appropriations, Energy, Utilities and Communications, and Transportation; the Select Committee on Bay Area Transportation; and the Joint Legislative Audit Committee. Senator Speier earned a B.A. from the University of California-Davis and a law degree from the University of California Hastings College of Law. She was a candidate for lieutenant governor in California in the 2006 election.

Jan Yanehiro is the host of Appraise It!, which can be seen on Home and Garden TV, and also hosts Women of Vision and The New Americans on KCSM TV.

Jan reports on KCBS AM 740 News Radio and produces her own weekly television program called Pacific Fusion. Jan has a degree in journalism from California State University, Fresno, and was host of Evening Magazine on KPIX TV in San Francisco for fifteen years. Winner of three Emmys, Jan consults with businesses on communications strategies.
